Cloudflare CASB policies introduce a native automation engine built directly on the Cloudflare developer platform to remediate SaaS risks automatically. Security teams can now design event-driven logic to revoke risky file shares and send webhooks without manual intervention.
A single misconfigured Google Workspace rule can generate thousands of security alerts in seconds, but fixing them manually used to take hours or days. Cloudflare cut that window down to five minutes or less by automating the entire remediation loop. 👇
Most SaaS security tools operate as passive alarms. They detect overshared files, dormant admin keys, and excessive permissions, but then drop those risks into a giant to-do list. Human administrators have to manually log into disparate vendor portals to click "fix" on every single item. In the hours or days before someone gets to the queue, sensitive files can be downloaded, forwarded, or indexed.
Cloudflare built automatic remediation policies directly into Cloudflare CASB to eliminate that manual lag. Instead of waiting for a human operator, the system uses event-driven logic to revoke risky shares or trigger external webhooks the moment a threat is spotted.
When the scanning engine detects a risk, it routes the event through a serverless pipeline: Detection → Cloudflare Queue → Worker consumer → Cloudflare Workflow.
First, the findings engine enqueues an orchestration message into Cloudflare Queues. A Worker consumer picks up the message and checks if the finding matches a policy rule defined by the security team. If it finds a match, the Worker spins up a execution job inside Cloudflare Workflows.
Cloudflare Workflows handles the execution durably. If a third-party vendor API hits rate limits, the workflow automatically pauses for the appropriate backoff window and retries without losing state or dropping the job. Depending on the rule, the engine either calls SaaS APIs directly to revoke file permissions or posts finding details to webhooks like Slack, Jira, or Tines.
The result is a shift from manual triage to hands-off enforcement. Detection-to-remediation drops from days to under five minutes, and every event leaves an execution log connecting specific files to proof of fix for compliance audits.
